Why do healthcare practices market?
There are quite a few reasons to market medical practices. The most common reason is increased competition among physicians. A major restriction a patient has when determining their medical providers are if the physicians are covered by their insurance policy. Beyond that, most people chose a physician by geographical location and specialty. In order to stay on top of the competition, healthcare practices will market to these individuals. Once the patient has scheduled an appointment, it is up to each healthcare practice to build a solid relationship with their patient in order for the patients to return for future visits.
Another reason doctors choose to market is to increase their reputation through branding and to increase their quality of care. For some physicians, marketing is about giving back and offering assistance to their community. But overall, the number one factor in marketing a healthcare practice is MORE MONEY. Just like any other business, the bottom line is to increase revenue by increasing the number of patients a physician practice evaluates.
